Theatrical Trailers

I am going to be looking at two different Theatrical trailers and analysing the conventions of each of them. The films I have chosen are 'Brain on Fire' which is a Drama based on a book, and, 'Bridget Jones's Baby'  which is a quirky romance film.

'Brain on Fire':

  • Introduction of main character straight away
  • Her voice is doing a voice over
  • Production company shown
  • Music is being played over main character and a new character's conversation
  • Long takes - this helps the audience understand the storyline more
  • Impact sounds of a glitch
  • Tagline's
  • Shorter shots
  • Most interesting scenes from the movie are being shown to intrigue audiences
  • Faster paced music
  • Title
  • Actors/Actresses names
  • Release date
  • Where the movie can be shown

'Bridget Jones's Baby':

  • Production company logo
  • Main characters voice over
  • Storyline shown
  • Upbeat music to relate to the conversations shown
  • Tagline's
  • Other characters are shown
  • Music is relating to what is being shown
  • Title
  • Slower paced cuts/ long takes
  • Release date
  • Other production company logos
  • Social media site
